For those who use AdGuard Home on Synology NAS to serve as a DNS server to block ads across the entire network, today we have an additional tool that makes tracking and viewing various statistics easier and more visually appealing. This is AdGuardian, a lightweight dashboard written in Rust specifically for monitoring AdGuard Home.
AdGuardian displays various information in real-time, including incoming DNS queries, the number of blocks/permissions, historical statistics graphs, active filter lists, and top domains. All of this operates directly on our NAS, with no data sent outside, ensuring full privacy.
⚙️ Installation Steps on Synology NAS
The installation is very easy through Docker using Portainer for management (which is the recommended method). First, you need to make sure that Portainer and AdGuard Home are already installed on your NAS. Once everything is set up, you can follow these steps.
1. Log in to Portainer, then go to the Stacks menu and click the + Add stack button
2. Name the Stack 'adguardian' and then paste the Docker Compose code provided on the source website into the Web editor
3. The most important thing is to adjust the Environment Variables to match your AdGuard Home settings:
- ADGUARD_IP: Enter the IP Address of your Synology NAS
- ADGUARD_PORT: Enter the Web UI Port of AdGuard Home that you have set (e.g., 9080)
- ADGUARD_USERNAME: Enter the username for logging into AdGuard Home
- ADGUARD_PASSWORD: Enter the password for logging into AdGuard Home
4. After modifying the values, scroll down to the very bottom and click the Deploy the stack button, then wait a moment for the system to install the Container.
