Synology has announced the launch of FlashStation FS6420, the latest addition to its all-flash server lineup, designed to meet the demands of enterprises requiring high-speed, responsive storage in data-intensive environments. It is ideal for workloads demanding maximum performance, such as virtual machine data storage and protection, file synchronization, and business application hosting.
Susan Yen, Product Manager at Synology, stated that the FS6420 was created to address the need for fast, responsive storage in the information age. With its capabilities as both NAS and SAN, it provides a flexible storage platform for organizations handling diverse workloads without the need to manage complex, separate infrastructures.
β‘ Enterprise All-Flash Performance
The FS6420 is engineered for high-concurrency workloads, delivering up to 929,000/257,000 IOPS for 4K random read/write. The unit comes equipped with two 10GbE ports and also supports optional 25GbE or Fiber Channel network cards to ensure seamless integration with modern high-speed infrastructures.
π‘οΈ Stability and Business Continuity
Beyond performance, the FS6420 features comprehensive availability features to ensure continuous service operation and optimal protection of critical data. These include Out-of-band (OOB) management, Network Failover and Load Balancing, hot-swappable redundant power supplies, and High-Availability Clustering support, which helps prevent downtime during maintenance or unexpected disruptions.
βοΈ Intelligent Features on DiskStation Manager (DSM)
The FS6420 runs on DiskStation Manager (DSM), an operating system with a comprehensive suite of data management features. These include Synology Virtual Machine Manager and Container Manager, which fully support VM storage, backup, and hosting (certified for VMware, Hyper-V, Citrix, and OpenStack). Additionally, Synology Drive transforms the system into a private cloud, and Synology Tiering automatically moves less frequently accessed data to more cost-effective storage tiers, enabling organizations to efficiently manage storage costs.
